FAQ

What age can my child start dance classes?

We start classes at the age of two with our Parent & Tot dance class. The class is a fun and creative way for toddlers to learn to interact in a structured class format. For children aged 3 and 4 we offer our Creative Movement Class which focuses on nurturing your little dancer’s natural imagination, curiosity and love of movement. Children from age 5-13 can choose from Ballet, Hip Hop, Musical Theatre/Jazz, Acro Dance and Lyrical classes. We also offer a semi-private Singing/Acting lesson for those dancers looking to round out their performing skills.

Can we try a class before we sign up?

Yes! We understand the importance of finding the right activity for your child and we also know that parents often need a trial themselves to find out whether the day/time of their child’s class fits into the family schedule. Please contact us if your child would like to attend a trial class.

How do I register my child?

You can register right here on our website under the Register Tab. If a class shows as Waitlisted you can call us at 416 912 1902 for the most up-to-date information regarding a particular class.

Do you have a dress code?

Yes, we do. A neat and tidy appearance sets an attitude of attentiveness and respect for the students, teacher, and the art of dance. Instructors must also be able to see the dancer’s body outline clearly in order to make proper corrections on posture, and alignment. Click the link to find the Dress Code for your child’s class. How many kids are in a class?

Our classes are held with a maximum of 10-12 children per class, depending on the age group. Our instructors focus on creating an intimate, positive and encouraging vibe in every lesson so that your dancer will feel right at home and thrive from day one.

Can I watch my child’s class?

For Parent & Tot classes you’ll be participating alongside your child. For our other classes we offer a fun “Parent Watching Week” at the end of November as well as a Dance Recital at the end of June 2024. These are two exciting opportunities to see what your child has been learning in their dance class. Dancers absolutely love these special days and beam with pride as they share their moves!

Will there be an annual Dance Recital?

Yes! Parents will be emailed more details regarding the Recital Date, Tickets and Costumes in early 2024. Costume fees are billed at that time.

What if my child does not want to continue with their class?

That’s ok! We just kindly ask for 1 month’s notice. We will remove your child from their class and you will not be charged for future months. (Cancellations that happen mid-month are possible, however no refunds for that month’s remaining classes will be issued).

Do you offer a Competitive Program?

No, we don’t participate in dance competitions and we aren’t a competition-style studio. Our focus is on developing your child’s natural imagination, creativity and confidence through the magic of dance. Our Instructors are all highly skilled Dance Professionals who have a passion for developing our student’s technique and artistry.

Do you offer make-up classes if we miss a lesson?

We don't have the ability to offer make-up classes for missed dance lessons as our classes have capacity limits and are pre-registered programs.

Do you offer Birthday Parties?

Yes, we offer several different themed birthday parties and they are a blast! They can be booked on Saturday or Sunday afternoons from 4-6pm. Contact us for more details.

Do you offer Adult Classes?

Occasionally we do! To stay in the loop please follow us on Social Media @danforthdancearts.

Do you offer P.A. Day Camps, March Break Camps and Summer Dance Camps?

Yes we do! Note: Our 2023 Summer Camps are nearly full, so please call us at 416 912 1902 for more information or to register your child.
